He comes to SBUMC from the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, where he completed his General Surgery Residency, Transplant Immunology Fellowship, and Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship.

“The appointment of Dr. Gupta is an important addition to our cardiothoracic surgery program,” said Todd K. “We are pleased to add Dr. Gupta to this surgical group, which is a key part of the development of a comprehensive surgical program at Stony Brook for treating high-risk patients who have had myocardial infarctions as well as congestive heart failure, aortic disease, and a history of prior cardiac surgery in ways that are highly effective, technologically advanced, less invasive, and lead to better outcomes for patients,” added Thomas Bilfinger, Chief of Thoracic Surgery.

Gupta has published in numerous medical journals, as well as presented at national and international surgery meetings. He received the Cleveland Clinic Foundation Innovator Award for development of devices to enhance the practice of minimally invasive mitral valve repair surgery.
