
Six-time Olympic medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee, dubbed “The Greatest Female Athlete of the 20th Century” by Sports Illustrated, is the keynote speaker at Stony Brook Medicine’s Women’s Health Day on Saturday, October 10, from 8:30 am to 2 pm at the Melville Marriott Long Island. Joyner-Kersee is a tireless advocate for education, health issues, racial equality, social reform and women’s rights. At lunch, she will speak about “Running the Race with Grace and Humility” — a sports metaphor that also applies to life in general. Her many experiences both on the field and off are sure to inspire all.
During the morning a choice of several seminars will be offered by Stony Brook Medicine experts on topics including: Women and Stress, Being Fit, Managing Diabetes, Women and Heart Disease, Weight Loss Strategies, and more.
