In the latest episode of the “Beyond the Expected” podcast series, Interim President Michael Bernstein talks to Stony Brook Medicine administrators about the temporary “new normal” for the team’s faculty, staff and leadership in the face of the COVID-19 crisis.

- Dr. Josh Miller, Assistant Dean for Clinical Integration and Medical Director of Diabetes Care at Stony Brook Medicine. He is currently running operations at the drive-through testing site for our community members, located on the university campus. He’s mobilizing, organizing and directing hospital staff in this challenging process and guiding initiatives to help the staff remain safe while administering swab tests.
- Carol A. Gomes, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Stony Brook University Hospital with more than 30 years’ experience in the healthcare field. She shares the steps she and the Stony Brook University Hospital are taking to provide the best, safest care possible in a beyond-challenging environment.
“First and foremost, it’s about safety,” Gomes says. “That’s a high priority and it’s highly prioritized in the context of everything that we do every day: making sure that our staff is safe; making sure that the frontlines are safe to care for these patients and making sure that the patients are safe.”
