This fall, the Ward Melville Heritage Organization (WMHO) continues its informative and timely series, Navigating Your Healthcare, with the best and brightest in the medical field offering insight and answers to your questions in a range of topics from DNA to robotic surgery.
The first in this series of three will be “From Bloodletting to Blood Cells and Now . . . DNA” on Thursday, October 6. This forum, featuring Senior Vice President of Health Sciences at Stony Brook University, Kenneth Kaushansky, will lead you through what we now consider the archaic use of bloodletting, the development of blood types, and the revolutionary way blood is tied to our DNA. Is it possible that the cure to all disease may lie in the blood system? Dr. Kaushansky is also Dean of the Stony Brook University School of Medicine.
Forums take place at WMHO’s Educational and Cultural Center in the Stony Brook Village Center at 6:30 pm. The cost is $25 per person and includes a buffet dinner by Three Village Inn. For reservations or more information, call (631) 689-5888 or visit www.wmho.org.
Remaining sessions are “Natural and Alternative Medicine,” October 13, and “Cancer,” October 27.
