New Research Finds Rise in Injuries Caused by Walking and Texting

ABC’s Good Morning America invited Associate Professor and Interim Chair of Physical Therapy Dr. Eric Lamberg and his team to the studio on Friday, August 27 to demo their “distracted while texting” obstacle course.
The live in-studio demo accompanied a segment that was shot on campus on Monday, August 24. The segment was initiated by research on “Cognitive Motor Interference in Healthy Participants Texting While Walking” by Dr. Lamberg and Associate Professor and Director of Research of Physical Therapy, Dr. Lisa Muratori. Drs. Lamberg and Muratori jointly developed the course that provided insight into the dangers of texting and walking. The curriculum was developed by the School of Health & Technology Management Center for Community Engagement and Leadership Development.
