National Geographic’s online “Explorer’s Journal” features a report from Centre ValBio (CVB), Stony Brook’s ecological research station located in the forests of Madagascar, by Princeton student Cara Brook.

Brook, who is in Madagascar to research the impact of human land development on biodiversity and how it could potentially spread infectious diseases that are transmitted from animals to people, describes CVB as “a world-class research facility on the edge of the rainforest, an English-speaking haven of good food and clean water in a very wild country.”

She describes the excitement of working with Dr. Patricia Wright, a renowned primatologist who founded CVB and is a Professor of Anthropology at Stony Brook University.
