Volunteer as Part of September 11 Campus Commemoration

911 memorial

Each year, we honor alumni and other members of the Stony Brook family who were lost on September 11, 2001. Their deaths strengthen our resolve as a University community to foster the most basic ideals of freedom and equality.

On Wednesday, September 11, we will observe a moment of silence at 8:46 am, followed by a new tradition, Volunteer Service Day. Join other students, faculty and staff to remember those who perished and honor those who volunteered.

Volunteer activities are available starting at noon:

  • Donate blood at the SAC Ballroom A
  • Join Healthier U Walk wearing red, white and/or blue
  • Place memorial pinwheels on the Academic Mall
  • Help create a message of thanks flag during Campus Lifetime

To volunteer, contact Mary Hoffmann at Mary.Hoffmann@stonybrook.edu or 632-4995 or Anthony LaViscount at Anthony.Laviscount@stonybrook.edu or 632-7320.
