Study Abroad in Ecuador Offers Community-Based Art Program

Study abroad ecuador

study abroad ecuadorThe Department of Hispanic Languages and Literature is offering a new faculty-led study abroad program in Ecuador, organized in collaboration with La Poderosa Media Project, a non-profit organization that uses film as a tool to promote youth empowerment, community engagement and international exchange. In this program, most language learning is done outside of the classroom and alongside native speakers that are working with you to produce a short film. Students also take an immersive language and culture course.

The Summer 2015 program runs from May 26 through July 4. Applications are now being accepted.

An information session and workshop will be held on Thursday, February 26, from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm in the Humanities Institute Room 1008 that will discuss the program and its innovative methods of teaching language and culture through community-based art. Lunch will be provided at 12:30 pm.
