killer_tofuCampus Dining Services is gearing up for its own version of the Iron Chef cooking competition to be held on Wednesday, April 28, from 12:45 pm to 1:45 pm in the Stony Brook Union Ballroom. Twenty student teams have signed up to compete in this culinary challenge, but only four teams will be selected based on obtaining the most votes on www.campusdining.org. The campus community can vote for its favorite team online from now through April 23.

Each student team will showcase its culinary talents and if they win the competition, $5,000 will be donated to a charity of their choice. The four selected teams will be notified on April 26 when they will be informed of the theme, cooking equipment, and the Campus Dining chef assigned to assist their team.

Students, faculty, and staff who wish to become a guest judge can register online. The audience will also be given a collective vote on the day of the event. The judges, including Chef Christian Fischer, Chef Al Aberg, one student guest judge, and one faculty/staff guest judge, will taste and evaluate each entry according to its appearance, flavor, use of ingredients and originality. Members of the audience will rate the food based on its appearance and originality.

Don’t miss two other upcoming Campus Dining events: Strawberry Festival on May 5 and Midnight Breakfast on May 10. For more information, visit www.campusdining.org.
