Student Gets Full Scholarship After Vassar Rejection

Lindenhurst High School senior Mary Hanley was among 76 students who were victims of Vassar’s mistake when the college posted on its website that they were accepted, but then rejected the students in a later posting. Hanley then discovered that she had received a full scholarship to study psychology at Stony Brook, where she will now start in the fall.

“I learned some lessons,” said Hanley. “I learned not to entirely trust the Internet. And that sometimes the best thing is sitting in front of you the whole time. In my excitement about Vassar I’d overlooked how good a school Stony Brook is. Now I’m really excited to be going there.”
