The Student Employee and Supervisor of the Year Awards, hosted by Stony Brook’s Career Center and the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Services, honored top student workers and supervisors across campus departments for their outstanding work on Wednesday, April 11.

Hosted during National Student Employment Week, seven students were awarded with a Distinction of Excellence, and three were Grand Prize winners. “With almost 5,000 students working in more than 200 departments, students make substantial contributions to the Stony Brook campus community everyday and can’t all be recognized, though their hard work and dedication is much appreciated,” said Caterina Reed, Career Center’s Student Employment Specialist.
The first Grand Prize-winner and Student Employee of the Year for Stony Brook University was Ingy Ghobashy, from SAC Facilities Operations. Second place went to Caitlyn Bucco, from Commuter Student Services and Off-Campus Living, and third went to Taylor Bouraad, from Student Engagement and Activities and Undergraduate Colleges.
Caitlyn Bucco also won Student Employee for the Year of the State of New York, and Ingy Ghobashy also won Graduate Student of the Year for the entire Northeast. These two awards were provided by Northeast Association of Student Employment Administrators, the regional chapter of the National Student Employment Association.
Kimberly Joy Dixon, Career Center’s Assistant Director of Employer Relations and Diversity, and Howard Gunston, Director of SAC Facilities Operations, tied for Supervisor of the Year Award.
