Stony Brook University will be hosting the 2016 RA Conference on Saturday, October 22, from 9 am to 5 pm at the Student Activities Center. RAs from Stony Brook and other schools from the region will learn about ways to enhance their skills as resident assistants and to grow as student leaders. A pre-conference social will be held Friday at 7:30 pm in the Center for Leadership and Service.
The conference is themed “Finding Res Life” and will focus on finding or evolving your RA identity working through challenges, self-care, transferable skills, creating a community in the residence halls, networking skills and motivational leadership. Presentation sessions for resident assistants will be run by staff and students. In addition to the student track, there will also be a professional staff development track.
The keynote address will be given by MrJeffDess who is a writer, professor and public speaker. There will also be a student keynote address given by one of Stony Brook’s resident assistants.
