The 2010 Stars of Stony Brook Gala will be held on Thursday, April 22, at Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers in Manhattan. This year’s Gala honors Chen Ning Yang, world-renowned Nobel Laureate in Physics and Albert Einstein Professor Emeritus at Stony Brook. His discoveries laid the foundation for contemporary particle physics and have profoundly influenced the field of mathematics. Yang’s arrival in 1966 brought Stony Brook to the forefront as an up-and-coming world-class research
institution.
Since its start in 2000, the annual Gala has raised more than $15 million for current use scholarship support and endowed scholarship funds. With the serious reduction of New York State support for Stony Brook, it is more important than ever to continue to grow scholarship funding.
Faculty and staff tickets are available at a reduced price of $500 per ticket or $5,000 for a table of ten. Chartered coach transportation is available to and from the Gala, with buses departing from campus and returning immediately after. Reservations are required.
The Gala begins with a cocktail reception at 6:30 pm and dinner at 7:30 pm. To purchase tickets and reserve seats on the bus, please contact Barbara Kornett at Barbara.Kornett@stonybrook.edu or 632-6190.
