Starbucks Now Open at Roth Food Court

Starbucks1 1

Starbucks has officially opened on the lower level  of Roth Food Court and is open seven days a week: Monday through Friday from 8 am until midnight, and Saturday and Sunday from 11 am until midnight.

Feedback from last spring’s Campus Dining Services’ Meal Plan Resolutions Committee showed that students were interested in bringing additional brands to Roth Food Court. The Roth Starbucks will offer the same hot breakfast menu as the Stony Brook Union Starbucks, which includes oatmeal, breakfast wraps and sandwiches. By adding a second Starbucks on campus, the Faculty Student Association (FSA) hopes to offer a more convenient location and reduce lines at the Stony Brook Union Starbucks.

Experienced student employees from Starbucks at the Stony Brook Union and former Pura Vida servers will help launch the new Starbucks venue. According to Warren Wartell, director of FSA Administrative Services, students working within the FSA organization is mutually beneficial.

“Students are provided quality employment as a means of financial support and as a vehicle for experiential learning opportunities, and at the same time, FSA has a highly intelligent, effective workforce pool for staffing efficiency,” Wartell said. “We provide student training to develop higher level work skills for future opportunities as student trainers, project managers, product developers and administrative coordinators, and many, many students have availed themselves of these opportunities.”

FSA employs approximately 800 students throughout the year. During the past five years, FSA has contributed $3.5 million to Stony Brook student employment.
