The Stony Brook Dance Team can be seen dazzling fans on the sidelines with their elite technical level and outstanding enthusiasm for all things Seawolves. The focus of the dance team is to create the ultimate fan experience through innovative crowd involvement techniques and exciting performances in the styles of pom, jazz and hip hop.
In addition to performing at all home football and basketball games, members participate in numerous events on campus and in the community. The team attends Universal Dance Association (UDA) summer camp and recently attended UDA Nationals in Orlando, Florida, where they placed in the top ten among Division I teams.
Regular season practices are held three to four times per week and include technique classes and conditioning and strength training. On average, members can expect to commit a minimum of 12 hours per week to dance-team related activities.
Tryouts for the 2015-2016 Dance Team will be held on Saturday, May 2, from 1 pm to 4 pm in Pritchard Gymnasium. Click on the link below for access to the registration packet.

One of Stony Brook’s most spirited groups is its cheerleading squad. The squad performs at all home football and basketball games. The squad also accompanies the teams to select off-campus events like the America East Basketball Championship. In addition to cheering on the Seawolves, the squad also attends UCA summer camp and placed in the top 10 among all Division I teams at UCA Nationals.
Regular season practices are held three times per week in addition to weekly tumbling classes. Members of the Performance/Competition Squad can expect to commit a minimum of 12 hours per week to team activities. The club team meets once a month beginning in September.
The team aims to support the Seawolves at athletic, campus and community events and acts as ambassadors for the University. The team is governed by Undergraduate Student Government and works closely with the Athletic Department. Please email email@example.com with any questions.
