Rowe Hessler, former two-time U.S. speed cubing champion from Long Island, will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for cubing beginning on Saturday, December 5, at approximately 2 pm, and ending on Sunday, December 6 — 24 hours later. Rowe’s challenge coincides with the start of the Melville Library’s 24-hour access so students can prepare for final exams. He will be set up in the Melville Library Commuter Lounge with his support team, the cube scramblers, recorders and judges.

You can watch a live stream of the video this weekend on Speedsolving.com.

Rowe’s mother, SBU alumna Celeste Hessler, is assistant head of the Music Library at Stony Brook University. Inspired by her son, she has written two books in a series, The Mysterious Fantasy Cube.
