Stony Brook University’s Department of Athletics and its Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will once again host a National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) on Sunday, February 9. NGWSD is a day to honor the accomplishments of female athletes and to highlight the benefits of staying active.
To help promote an active and healthy lifestyle, Stony Brook will be holding a Youth Sports Clinic, with registration beginning at 11:30 am and culminating with a women’s basketball game against the University of New Hampshire at 2 pm. The Sports Clinic is open to all girls and boys between the ages of 6 and 13 and will feature Stony Brook student-athletes from many different sports leading the activities.
Registration on the day of the clinic will be in the Stony Brook University Campus Recreation Center Multiactivity Court. After the clinic, participants will be escorted to the Stony Brook Indoor Sports Complex (adjacent to the Campus Recreation Center) to attend the game.
Representatives from the Summer Camps at Stony Brook will also be on hand to answer questions and provide information about the summer 2014 programs. There will also be information about the new Stony Brook Arena and 2014-15 Seawolves Basketball season ticket packages.
Sneakers and play clothes are required, and there is a $10 admission fee, which includes the clinic, a t-shirt, and a ticket to the women’s basketball game for each participant. No refunds and/or discounts will be offered. Pre-registration is mandatory and the registration deadline is Wednesday, February 5. There will be no walk-ups permitted.
