Stony Brook University is again inviting the local community, friends, families, students and neighbors to experience CommUniversity Day, an afternoon of fun exploration, good food, hands-on activities and cultural demonstrations highlighting the very best from the University. Everyone is welcome to attend this free event on Saturday, September 22. Activities will be centered around the University’s main Academic Mall for easy access to all events.
“We’re excited to welcome our neighbors and the campus community to explore the many facets of Stony Brook. From the arts to medicine and sports to science, we encourage visitors to participate, to learn and to have fun,” said President Samuel L. Stanley Jr, MD.

Visit a variety of themed campus “neighborhoods” and discover some of the fascinating areas of Stony Brook University. Step into the Discovery Zone for the iCreate Lab featuring mini-drone flying and Pac Man robots. Check out what’s new in virtual reality and visualization. Test your skills at the distracted driving simulator in the Health & Safety neighborhood or stop by for a free dental screening or learn Hands-Only CPR. View incredible art or discover our legendary rock concert history in the Traditions neighborhood. Race a duck in the campus “brook” at 3:50 pm. Learn about music at the Instrument Petting Zoo. View an original letter from George Washington. Take part in the “Kazoo-niversity,” a group performance (kazoos provided free). And enjoy an ice cream treat in celebration of TIAA’s Centennial.
There will be hands-on activities for kids, sport clinics, health screenings, historical exhibits, food vendors, giveaways and more.

“It’s important to Stony Brook to be a good neighbor and to strengthen our local partnerships,” said Judith B. Greiman, Chief Deputy to the President and Senior Vice President for Government and Community Relations. “CommUniversity Day is another way that the campus and community can come together. We hope our neighbors will come to experience all that the campus has to offer.”
