He’s been spotted in Seattle, Chicago, Kennebunkport, at a Yankee game and at the beach. There have also been Wolfie sightings in exotic locations such as India, Singapore, Serbia, Hawaii and Cancun.
Wolfie is showing up everywhere that Seawolves fans are as a result of the continuous initiative to spread school pride and spirit, called “Where in the World is Wolfie?”
The plush version of Stony Brook’s mascot is a hot-selling item, and with thousands of followers on Twitter and Facebook, fans and Wolfie enthusiasts are taking him with them everywhere they go.
The idea mimics the Flat Stanley children’s literature character’s wandering nature, but was actually inspired by an article in Currents that highlighted the sojourns of the American School of London’s plush mascot, Eagle.
The campaign has officially re-launched as part of the campus Spirit and Pride initiative this spring. Six-inch Wolfie dolls are on sale at the Seawolves MarketPlace from March 3 through March 14. Be sure to pick one up and take Wolfie on your travels this spring break. Take pictures of you and Wolfie in different parts of the world and then upload the photos to the official “Where in the World is Wolfie? Facebook Fan Page. Pictures can also be e-mailed to Wolfie@stonybrook.edu (please include the location when submitting your photo). There is also a Google map that pinpoints all of the Wolfie spotting worldwide.
