More than two dozen businesses from Stony Brook University and the local community participated in a vendor expo for SBU students and their families on August 25. The expo, which took place during the Freshman Orientation Family Farewell BBQ, allowed new students and their families a chance to experience local community businesses.

Crowds gathered around the vendors’ tables outside the Melville Library to learn about the businesses. Vendors provided information and offered discounts, coupons and giveaways to all who stopped by their tables. Island Federal Credit Union gave free photos to celebrate the day, while Pumpernickels Delicatessen & Market gave away half-price coupons for sandwiches.

Some of the vendors included:

Ward Melville Heritage Organization

Lucky Lou’s Gourmet Rice Pudding

511NYRideshare

“I love the opportunity to share good health and wellness with people of the community,” said Barbara Ann Grova of Nutritional Healing. Vendors said they would definitely participate in the event again.
