Stony Brook University and Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) are hosting the East Coast Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics (CUWIP). The three-day conference begins on the evening of Thursday, January 16 through Sunday afternoon, January 19, 2014. The conference headquarters will be the Hilton Garden Inn on the Stony Brook University campus.
CUWIP is a national series of conferences held across the United States each year. The goal of the conference, according to the American Physical Society, “is to help undergraduate women continue in physics by providing them with the opportunity to experience a professional conference, information about graduate school and professions in physics, and access to other women in physics of all ages with whom they can share experiences, advice and ideas.”
The agenda for the Conference includes research talks by faculty, panel discussions about graduate school and careers in physics, presentations and discussions about women in physics, tours at BNL, student research talks, a student poster session and several meals during which presenters and students interact with one another.
