Whether on campus or in the community, Stony Brook University students, faculty and staff are choosing to shop with their Wolfie Wallet card while local businesses celebrate the program’s success. The Wolfie Wallet program allows students, faculty and staff to take advantage of special deals from the program merchants by using their University identification as a debit card.

Last year, Seawolf shoppers swiped their Wolfie Wallet card in nearly 20,000 transactions for items such as pizza, frozen yogurt and shampoo. Benefits of the program for shoppers range from free food to discounts from local retailers, and the promotions change frequently. In addition, many businesses, including Subway, CVS Pharmacy, Jamba Juice and Bagel Express, have reaped the benefits of partnering with Stony Brook. “Wolfie Wallet is a welcomed addition to the Bagel Express family,” said David Prestia, owner of the East Setauket bagel shop.

Buyers generated more than $200,000 in total sales for the program stores.

Now in its second year, Wolfie Wallet is welcomed in nearly two dozen businesses in the local community. One of the program’s newest additions, Fairway Market in Lake Grove, is the first grocery store to accept the card.
