Girl Power in STEM: Step It Up! is a symposium that celebrates the accomplishments of women in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. It will be held on Saturday, March 5, from 9 am to 2 pm in the Engineering Building, Lecture Hall 145.
Lecturers and panelists will discuss the impact of women in STEM careers, on the work environment, and on the economy, as well as how we as a society can improve women’s participation in STEM fields. Bringing together women from academia, government and private sectors, this event will also help up-and-coming young professionals learn about women’s experiences in STEM fields. Audience members will have the opportunity to have one-on-one conversations with speakers and panelists during the Speed Networking session.
Girl Power in STEM: Step It Up! is being held in celebration of International Women’s Day, proclaimed as United Nations Day for women’s rights on March 8. This year the UN celebrates women’s achievements and calls for equal opportunities at all levels.
Registration is Free (Free on-site registration will also be available.)
This symposium is organized by Brookhaven Women in Science, Women in Science and Engineering and Graduate Women in Science and Engineering.
