The Faculty Student Association (FSA) and Campus Dining Services will be hosting Food Truck Day on Wednesday, October 17, from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm in front of the Stony Brook Union. Students, faculty and staff will have the chance to try free samples from Flo’s Famous Luncheonette and Lumpy’s Food Truck, enjoy music, win prizes and walk through the street fair, which includes caricaturists, balloon artists and henna tattoo artists.
“We’re really excited for the opportunity to share some of our great menu items with the Stony Brook community,” said Liam Beardslee, owner of Lumpy’s Food Truck. “I enjoy cooking the unique menu items we offer such as yucca fries, chorizo-n-egg tacos, buffalo chicken tacos and Mexican soda.”
Both Flo’s Famous Food Truck and Lumpy’s Food Truck are some of Campus Dining’s newest food truck vendors this year. Both trucks fill the need to offer a greater variety of quick, grab-and-go service at busy times during the day.
This fall customers can look forward to new items from Lumpy’s such as Mexican hot cocoa and a spicy chicken tortilla soup. Lumpy’s also offers many vegetarian items such as madras lentil tacos, falafel tacos and fried tostones with honey garlic sauce.
Flo’s Famous Luncheonette features a variety of seafood, salads, burgers and specials like loaded waffle fries and fried clam strips.
“I’m proud that we’ve been able to offer students new meals to spice up their normal eating routines,” said Connor Vigliotta, manager of Flo’s Famous Luncheonette. “We hope to continue improving and expanding our menu throughout the semester after hearing from our customers.”
Guests will have the chance to win great prizes like free lunches and Stony Brook gear while finding out about weekly specials and offers from both trucks.
Giving students more choices is important to us,” said Carly Shephard, marketing director for Campus Dining. “We are very excited to bring two new food trucks to campus to offer more variety with unique menu items.”
Both food trucks are located on John S. Toll Drive between the Stony Brook Union and the Melville Library. Meal plans are not accepted at food trucks.
Flo’s Famous Luncheonette and Lumpy’s Food Truck are brought to you by FSA, which serves and supports the University community. In keeping with FSA’s mission, proceeds from FSA operations are returned to the University to benefit students.
