September 22 to 23

The Life Sciences Summit 2010 will take place from Wednesday, September 22, through Thursday, September 23, at the Hyatt Regency Long Island in Hauppauge. The Summit brings together key industry executives, innovators, emerging company CEOs, leading academic scientists, and early-stage investors to explore new technologies and product candidates for the treatment and diagnosis of human disease. The Life Sciences Summit is organized by Stony Brook’s Center for Biotechnology.
The Rock Stars of Science™ Campaign is one of the major plenary sessions at the Summit and features world-recognized scientists from industry and academia. The message of the session is that our ability to communicate science to the public is key to making biomedical research funding a national priority, engaging the next generation in science careers, and ultimately, to developing cures.
Robert Langer, David H. Koch Institute Professor at Massachusetts Institute of Techonlogy, is one of the keynote speakers, and one of the most prolific inventors in history. He will speak on “The Future of Regenerative Medicine, Tissue Engineering, and Drug Delivery.”

Colin Goddard, former CEO of OSI Pharmaceuticals Inc., is also a keynote speaker and will give an uncensored talk on his experience as CEO: “From Bench to Bedside: The Story of OSI Pharmaceuticals.”
