Hospital Needs Blood Donations to Help with Current Shortage

Blood drive sbuThe Stony Brook University Hospital Blood Bank is seeking donors to help with the current blood shortage. All eligible donors are urged to make an appointment to give now. It only takes 45 minutes — from paperwork to juice and cookies — to donate whole blood, and every donation is used to treat a Stony Brook Hospital patient.

Please schedule an appointment to donate blood or platelets. All donations must be made in the Donor Room of the Stony Brook University Hospital Blood Bank, located in the Lobby, Level 5, of the hospital.  

As a “thank you” to donors, you will receive these gifts while supplies last:

  • Whole Blood Donors: Long-sleeve “Straight from the Heart” T-shirt
  • Platelet Donors: Fleece field blanket

Convenient hours are available Monday through Saturday. Walk-ins are welcome, but on weekends, holidays, before 8 am and after 4 pm on weekdays, please call (631) 444-2634 as hours may vary.
