Stony Brook University Friends of Hillel will launch a weekend-long Mega Megillah Shabbat celebration on Friday, February 26, featuring comic entertainer Brad Zimmerman, former opener for George Carlin and Joan Rivers.
“We are proud to be able to bring together our students along with parents, alum, faculty, staff, and community members,” said Gloria Snyder, MA ’72, Chairperson of Friends of Hillel. “Last year’s event brought parents from as far as Boston and alum from all over.”
The celebration will conclude on Saturday evening with a traditional “Megillah” reading for the holiday of Purim followed by a performance of the Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra at the Staller Center.
“Last year was our first year of forgoing on a traditional fundraiser and instead bringing our donors directly to a student run program,” said Hillel Associate Director Jill Zucker, “The students worked very hard and enjoyed working with the donor committee.”
“We would like to specifically invite all Stony Brook alumni to join us for this wonderful celebration so they can relive their festive Shabbat dinners from their years as students here,” said Zucker.
