Give to the Stony Brook Cares SEFA/United Way Campaign

A Message from President Samuel L. Stanley Jr., MD

Dear Colleagues,

Stony Brook University has a long history of giving back to our community. Our 30-year commitment to the SEFA/United Way campaign has played a major role in our legacy of caring. Last year, we raised nearly $120,000 to help our neighbors in need. And this year I’m sure we can do even better.

Stony Brook Cares provides a unique opportunity for the faculty and staff to help affiliated charities and human services agencies in our community. Many local services rely on these funds to sustain their operations. These agencies help the elderly, provide childcare, assist the disabled and provide critical support for families.

Contributions to Stony Brook Cares may be directed to specific agencies including several on campus, such as: Stony Brook Child Care Services, The Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund, University Hospital Auxiliary, The Charles Thide Foundation and Literacy Suffolk (Literacy Volunteers of America, Inc.). Alternatively, you may allow your undesignated gifts to be distributed through local SEFA and United Way committees.

Please help us reinforce that Stony Brook University is not only committed to cutting-edge research and educational excellence, but also steadfast in our dedication to helping our neighbors whenever and wherever we can.

— Samuel L. Stanley Jr., MD
