Experience Stony Brook 2011 kicked off on Friday, August 26, for all new students on move-in day. Events continued throughout the weekend, including the New Student Convocation, Undergraduate College programming, commuter student party, transfer student lunch, building tours, movies, and more.

Opening activities continue throughout September, with an exciting schedule of social, athletic, and academic events.

The Students Welcome Center offers a wealth of information on everything new students need to know—from academics, policies, and procedures to health, transportation, and leisure activities—as they navigate through their first semester at Stony Brook.

After spending the morning welcoming new students and helping them move in to their dorms, President Stanley visited the football team during their afternoon practice at LaValle Stadium and spoke to the team.

“You guys have been winners of two conference championships in the two seasons I’ve been here,” said President Stanley. “That’s amazing. That’s a record that’s just fantastic. I’m really proud of you. And you’ve done it both on the filed in great ways and off the field as well.”
