Stony Brook University President Samuel L. Stanley Jr., M.D. (pictured, right) and Graham Glynn, Assistant Provost/Executive Director of the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Technology (TLT), cut the ribbon on December 18, celebrating the official opening of the Collaborative Learning Area (CoLA), one of two new teaching and learning facilities in the Frank Melville Jr. Memorial Library. Looking on are Richard Reeder (left), Chief Information Officer for the Division of Information Technology, and Christian Filstrup, representing the library.
The CoLA, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, is an informal learning space designed for group study and collaboration. The other newly opened teaching and learning facility in Melville Library is the recently renovated Faculty Center, a support system for Stony Brook instructors who are interested in improving the quality of their teaching, assessing student learning, and further developing their own careers.
