STONY BROOK, NY, October 22, 2018 — Innovative Otolaryngology has joined Stony Brook Community Medical, Stony Brook Medicine’s expanding network of community practices and physicians. The practice, led by Smithtown native Dr. Joshua Rosenthal, provides specialty care in conditions of the ear, nose and throat, as well as sleep medicine to patients at offices located in Commack and East Setauket.

As a sleep specialist, Dr. Rosenthal offers both medical and surgical options for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea, providing patients with an innovative and personalized approach to help get them back to the refreshing sleep they need.  Dr. Rosenthal is well trained and experienced in minimally invasive surgeries of the head and neck. He is also certified by the American College of Surgeons in head and neck ultrasound, and performs ultrasound-guided biopsies of the neck and thyroid.

In addition, Innovative Otolaryngology’s sinus health program is designed to produce relief from nasal congestion and sinus discomfort. Dr. Rosenthal was the first on Long Island to offer the newest, minimally invasive, incision-less treatment called balloon sinuplasty right in his office, providing less risk, less pain, durable results, and minimal down time.

“We are very pleased to have Dr. Rosenthal join our team,” said David A. Schessel, MD, PhD, Chief, Division of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery. “He specializes in the treatment of both adults and children in all aspects of otolaryngology. He is an outstanding graduate of our residency training program who has been in private practice for the past decade, and we are happy to have him back with us now.”

“After 10 years of clinical experience, it’s a pleasure to return to Stony Brook, where I started my journey,” said Joshua Rosenthal, MD.  “I look forward to bringing my expertise to further develop the Division of Otolaryngology both in Commack and Setauket.”

Dr. Rosenthal, a Smithtown native, is dual board certified in both otolaryngology and sleep medicine, as well as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery. He is a cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, and earned his MD at New York Medical College.

Editor’s note: Patients who wish to make appointments to be seen by Dr. Rosenthal at our Commack and East Setauket offices should call (631) 444-4121.
