Stony Brook Medicine will celebrate the opening of the new Children’s Hospital building by hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tours. Stony Brook Children’s Hospital has expanded significantly in nearly 10 years and is scheduled to open the doors to a new state-of-the-art pediatric facility. As the only children’s hospital on Long Island with single-patient rooms, Stony Brook sets a new standard for a unique healing and caring environment with critically ill children and their families.

The facility provides needed space for some of its most in-demand services, ensuring that Long Island’s population of 2.8 million residents continues to receive the most comprehensive, advanced pediatric specialty care in the region for children ages 0 to 21+.

A few features include:

  • Patient rooms with multi-colored wall lights, controlled by patients, that come to life with turtles, fish and dolphins
  • State-of-the-art hospital beds capture and download patient information directly into the patient’s chart
  • Nautically themed art and a live video feed from the Long Island Aquarium
  • General Pediatrics Ward
  • Pediatric Procedure Suite
  • Separate child and teen playrooms
  • Outdoor rooftop garden
  • Respite and support for families in the Ronald McDonald Family Room
