Stony Brook Launches New Master’s Degree in Applied Health Informatics

Stony Brook, NY, January 13, 2015 – The Stony Brook University School of Health Technology & Management is now offering a new Master’s Degree in Applied Health Informatics for healthcare professionals. The development of the program is in response to urgent local and regional workforce demands and will foster telehealth services under New York State legislation passed this month that increases healthcare programs for rural communities, those with limited means, and patients suffering from chronic conditions.

The new degree program furthers the intersection of telehealth, informatics and innovation. Under the new state law, telehealth services will be classified as a reimbursable form of medical coverage, thus ensuring that patients will be entitled to receive their necessary care through the use of remote monitoring and other telehealth technologies.

For more about the new program see this link. The application deadline for summer 2015 admission is March 1. See this link in order to apply.
