Medicine, has received the 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Pediatric Transplant Association (IPTA). The award recognizes an IPTA member who has made outstanding contributions to the field of pediatric transplantation over the course of his/her career.

Dr. Fine is a renowned pediatric nephrologist whose career has spanned more than 45 years. He is internationally recognized for his expertise in the management of children requiring renal transplantation. During his career, Dr. Fine helped advance pediatric nephrology with his pioneering efforts to adopt dialysis and renal transplantation for pediatric patients. He also helped establish peritoneal dialysis as an alternative for children with end stage renal disease (ESRD) and championed the use of recombinant human growth hormone to treat chronic renal insufficiency and ESRD.

The IPTA is a professional organization of individuals in the field of pediatric transplantation. Its mission is to advance the science and practice of pediatric transplantation worldwide in order to improve the health of children who require transplantation.
