Stony Brook University Medical Center Receives Consumer Choice Award

ospital is selected for third consecutive year in national survey

STONY BROOK, N.Y., November 10, 2010 — Stony Brook University Medical Center has received the Consumer Choice Award from the National Research Corporation for the third consecutive year.

The award for 2010-11 honors Stony Brook as the highest rated hospital in the New York, Newark, N.J., and Edison, PA, metropolitan statistical area in the following areas:

*· Best Doctors
*· Best Nurses
*· Best Overall Quality
*· Best Overall Image/Reputation

“Stony Brook University Medical Center is ranked alongside hospitals like Mayo Clinic, Mass General, Cedars-Sinai and Cleveland Clinic as winners in their respective markets this year,”said Eric Moyer of NRC. Winning the award for three consecutive years is “a distinction few hospitals can claim,” he added.

The winners were announced in the Oct. 18 edition of Modern Healthcare magazine. They were derived from a a national survey of approximately 260,000 households.
