18th Annual Walk For Beauty To Hold Kick-Off Event August 15 At Three Village In Stony Brook Village

Event to honor Brian O’Hea,M.D., Medical Director of Carol M. Baldwin Breast Care Center

STONY BROOK, N.Y., July 29, 2011 – The 18th annual Walk for Beauty will hold its kick-off event on Monday, Aug. 15, at the Three Village Inn in Stony Brook Village to jump start fundraising efforts for breast cancer research and patient support at Stony Brook University Cancer Center.

The event will feature Brian O’Hea, M.D., Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery in the Department of Surgery, Chief of Surgical Oncology, Chief of the Breast Service and Director of the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Care Center at Stony Brook University Cancer Center. Dr. O’Hea has been with the Cancer Center since 1996 and has saved countless lives. He is the honoree for this year’s walk, which will be held Sunday, Oct. 2, at Stony Brook Village.

The public is invited to attend the kickoff, which will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served. To RSVP, call (631) 444-4000 by Friday, Aug. 5.

Since its inception in 1994, the Walk for Beauty has raised over $1 million for breast and prostate cancer research at Stony Brook University Cancer Center. The volunteer-led event is co-presented by Stony Brook University and The Ward Melville Heritage Organization. All event proceeds go towards research and patient support; there are no administrative fees.

The cost to walk is $15 in advance if registered by Saturday, Sept. 17, and $20 thereafter. Individual and corporate sponsorship packages are available, ranging from $100 to $10,000.
