Swing With the Stars: Celebrities Tee Off For The Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund

Annual Celebrity Golf Outing Benefits Medical Research at SBUMC


STONY BROOK, N.Y., July 6, 2009 – On July 20 at the Nissequ

 
ogue Golf Club in St. James, N.Y., stars from the sports, entertainment, and music worlds will tee off during the Carol
 
 M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund Annual Celebrity Golf Outing. The event raises funds to support research at Stony Brook University Medical Center investigating the causes, prevention, and treatment of breast cancer.
 



Celebrities scheduled to attend the golf outing include: former Yankee great Bernie Williams, and Met legend Bud Harrelson; NHL hall-of-famer and New York Islander Clark Gillies; NFL great and New York Giant Otis Anderson; John Melendez of The Tonight Show, and electric jazz guitarist Les Paul.

“This is a great event that not only supports cutting-edge research but honors breast cancer survivors, those we have lost, and those fighting for their lives today,” says Linda Winicki, Director of Development at the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund.

Highlighting the golf outing is the Million Dollar Challenge, where players get a chance to shoot a hole in one for one million dollars. The event also includes a brunch and registration (10:30 AM), a cocktail reception (5:30 to 6:30 PM), and an Awards Dinner and Auction (6:30 PM start). Tee off time is 12:30 PM.

Various sponsorship packages are available, including the Golf Cart Sponsor ($2,500), Towel and Birdie Sponsor ($5,000), the Eagle Sponsor ($7,500), up to the Presenting Sponsor ($20,000).
