New Edition of Cardiac Intensive Care to be Published by Elsevier

STONY BROOK, N.Y.,
 March 26, 2010 – A new edition of 
Cardiac Intensive Care
, the only textbook dedicated to cardiac intensive care medicine, chronicles the progress made in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with critical cardiac illness during an era in which clinical cardiology has become a progressive and interventional field. Edited by Stony Brook University Medical Center cardiologists Allen Jeremias, M.D., MSc, and David L. Brown, M.D., the edition is scheduled to be published by Elsevier Health Sciences on March 28, 2010.

The new textbook is geared toward medical professionals and students. 
Cardiac Intensive Care
 includes coverage of the many noncoronary diseases in the cardiac intensive care unit, technical advancements, and a complete compendium of up-to-date pharmacologic agents. Drs. Jeremias and Brown also present new sections and chapters, as well as up-to-date information on landmark discoveries, a greater understanding of syndromes, and diagnostic and therapeutic advances.

About the Authors

Allen Jeremias, M.D., MSc, is Assistant Professor of Medicine and Director, Vascular Medicine and Peripheral Intervention, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, at Stony Brook University Medical Center. Dr. Jeremias is recognized nationally as an expert clinician in coronary artery revascularization, stenting, and non-surgical cardiovascular intervention. He has led numerous studies on these topics and has published in national and international journals. 

David L. Brown, M.D., is Professor of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, at Stony Brook University Medical Center. Dr. Brown is a nationally recognized interventional cardiologist with expertise in the identification and treatment of fatty plaque in arteries responsible for heart attacks and outcomes of patients with coronary artery disease. Dr. Brown has more than 150 peer-reviewed articles, books, chapters and abstracts.
