STONY BROOK, NY, August 26, 2020 – Marcia Simon, Ph.D., Professor and Director for Graduate Studies in the Department of Oral Biology and Pathology at Stony Brook University’s School of Dental Medicine, received a 2019-2020 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service. The distinction recognizes Dr. Simon’s record of sustained, superior service to a wide range of diverse constituents, as well as her contributions to her profession, the Stony Brook University campus, SUNY, and the broader community.

Dr. Simon specializes in development and production of cell based therapies for the treatment of partial and full thickness injury to oral, cutaneous and ocular surfaces; regulation of epithelial differentiation; and retinoid and non-retinoid lipid metabolism in epithelial and mesenchymal cells. She is one of 27 Stony Brook University Faculty and Staff Members honored with the 2019-2020 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence.
