Stony Brook University Football Team To Visit Children’s Hospital

WHAT/VISUALS:

The Seawolves, ranked 19th in the nation, will be bringing smiles to their fans on and off the field this season as they visit Stony Brook Children’s Hospital on October 11th. Key members of the team will engage with pediatric patients, throw a football around with those able and provide signed posters and hats.

The team’s visit is part of their initiative to highlight rare diseases and those in need. This season they are participating in the Touchdown Pledge, in which money is donated with every touchdown they score. The team hopes to raise at least $2,000. Proceeds will support the mission of Uplifting Athletes and its charitable programs: Rare Disease Awareness, Rare Disease Research, Uplifting Experiences and Uplifting Leaders.

Currently 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the CAA, Stony Brook University’s football team went 10-3 overall last season with a 7-1 conference record to place second. They returned to the FCS NCAA Playoffs and advanced to the second round.
