Double Portrait brings together the work of Charley Friedman and Nancy Friedemann-Sánchez, an artist couple who make work that initially appears quite different, but upon further looking, embodies visual and conceptual overlays that create an intriguing dialog.

Humorous, self-reflective and performative, Charley Friedman creates figures and environments that engage with their audience. Nancy Friedemann-Sánchez utilizes the framework of storytelling for her intricate drawings, paintings and sculptures that poetically embody expressions of humanity as seen through the lens of gender, political power and migration. Seen together, their work touches on issues of identity, self and community in relation to society.
An artist reception will be held on Saturday, January 20, at 7 pm, with an Artist Talk on Monday, January 22, at 2:30 pm.
