Printed film posters originated in the late 19th century and are regarded as works of art and collector’s items. This exhibition features a selection of some of the 20th century’s most fascinating, intriguing and compelling American and international film posters.

Classic films such as Gone with the Wind will be featured along with favorites such as Elvis’s Harem Holiday and Lawrence of Arabia as well as more recent films including Pulp Fiction and Titanic. The exhibition will include approximately 25 original vintage film posters, and the Gallery will screen a series of Charlie Chaplin silent films on a continuous loop.

The Zuccaire Gallery is located on the first floor of the Staller Center. Admission is free. For information, call (631) 632-7240, email ZuccaireGallery@stonybrook.edu or visit the Gallery’s webpage.

Gallery hours are Tuesday to Friday from 12 pm to 4 pm. During the Film Festival, July 16 through July 25, the Gallery will also be open one hour before the early screening and close when the last screening begins.

Posters are courtesy of the Chisholm Larsson Gallery, New York City.
