Stony Brook University students Mario Ortega, Quinn O’Brien and Maggie Knight began their 4K for Cancer coast-to-coast bike trek for the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults in Baltimore on June 2, which marked the 26th Annual National Cancer Survivors Day.
The Ulman Cancer Fund is a non-profit organization that supports, educates and connects young adults and their loved ones affected by cancer. Since 2001, groups of college students have undertaken journeys across America with the goal of offering hope, inspiration and support to cancer communities along the way. In 2012, 88 4K for Cancer participants traveled across America and raised nearly $500,000. This is the 12th year the 4K will travel across the country and bring new and exciting opportunities to the program.
