Staller Center Fall Season Features Big Shows

Bollywood 2 1
Bollywood-2
The Merchants of Bollywood comes to Staller Center on October 30.

Staller Center will be welcoming an eclectic mix of artists to its Main Stage Theatre and Recital Hall this fall—from top jazz players that make up the SFJAZZ Collective, the world-renowned Emerson String Quartet, dancers and singers in the Bollywood show, The Merchants of Bollywood, to Galumpha, an award-winning troupe of children’s entertainers and acrobats, as well as a nightclub cabaret with clarinetist/saxophonist Ken Peplowski.

Two special performances on the Staller Center Main Stage are The Merchants of Bollywood on Saturday, October 30, at 8:00 pm and a concert by Katharine McPhee, a singer-songwriter-actress who attracted fans as a singing sensation on American Idol (Season Five). “Kat” McPhee appears at Staller Center on Sunday, November 7, at 7:00 pm.

The Merchants of Bollywood from Mumbai, India, brings original music and choreography from the biggest Bollywood movies past and present. Dancers in more than 1,000 glittery costumes and jewelry bring to life a tale inspired by the life of Vaibhavi Bhavi Merchant, the musical’s choreographer, and based on the true story of Bollywood’s famed Merchant family dynasty of filmmakers and choreographers. High-octane music and authentic classical Indian dance are mated with Western dynamics of disco, acrobatics, hip-hop, and jazz interspersed with genuinely comic interludes.
