Stony Brook University’s Student Affairs has been honorably mentioned as one of 2022’s Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs according to Diverse: Issues in Higher Education, a publication focusing on news and issues of diversity, equity and inclusion in American higher education.
The “Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs” selection was based on workplace diversity, staffing practices and work environment, as well as family friendliness, salary/benefits and professional development opportunities.
Rick Gatteau, Vice President of Student Affairs, stated, “We are thrilled to be recognized by one of the leading organizations that address developments in higher education. Even with the ongoing challenges of the pandemic, we remained committed to creating, enhancing, and sustaining a culture of respect and inclusion in the workplace, focusing on equity and justice.”
This recognition highlights Stony Brook’s Student Affairs achievements to continually strive for excellence along with professional development opportunities, implementing workplace diversity and inclusion practices, as well as creating a community of staff committed to enhancing student life on campus. “We hope to continue striving for greatness in our division in order to build an even stronger Stony Brook community,” said Gatteau.
