Mikaela Dunkin
Hometown: Bussey, Iowa
Major/Degree: PhD in Materials Science and Chemical Engineering
Departmental advisors/research mentors: Esther Takeuchi, Amy Marschilok, Kenneth Takeuchi
Dunkin received a Fulbright Research Award to work at the MAX IV synchrotron light source in Lund, Sweden. This large-scale user facility provides scientists worldwide with exceptionally bright X-rays, enabling scientific discoveries not always possible with other technologies. At MAX IV, she will work with scientists to run experiments, with a special focus on testing batteries under operating conditions, providing unique and synergistic information about their structure.
She is the previous recipient of a Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) fellowship at Stony Brook University and the 2021 Renate W. Chasman Award at Brookhaven National Laboratory.
Welldone, Max! Wishing lots of success with your research project as Fulbright Scholar in Stockholm.
