Record-Breaking 14 SBU Students Receive Prestigious Fulbright Scholarships

Hometown: Fanwood, New Jersey

Major/Degree: Applied Mathematics & Statistics and Economics, minor in Writing & Rhetoric

Departmental advisors/research mentors: Cathy Marrone, Jessica Klare, Jen Green

Small received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award and will spend the 2022-2023 school year teaching English at the Stredni skola polygraficka in Olomouc, Czech Republic. There, in addition to her work in the classroom, she plans to establish an after-school book club centered around reading and creating graphic novels, and will serve as a cultural ambassador engaging in cross-cultural exchange with her local community.

Small is in the Honors College at Stony Brook.
