Isabelle pazarIsabelle Pazar

Hometown: Yarmouth, Maine

Major/Degree: DMA in Music, Flute Performance

Departmental advisors/research mentors: Carol Wincenc

Pazar was selected for a Fulbright Research Award to study the French flute tradition known as the “French School” of music in its place of origin, Paris, France. She will work closely with world-renowned flutist Patricia Nagle at LÉcole Normale de Musique and the Conservatoire National Supérieur to study its historical development, pedagogical methods, performance style and techniques, and to better understand how to interpret the French compositions that have been written especially for the internationally recognized Concours de Prix in France. She will perform in nonprofit settings and digitize the French playing style and techniques of new French compositions at the Institute for Research and Coordination in Acoustics/Music (I.R.C.A.M.) in collaboration with student composers in France. Pazar will share her knowledge from this experience in the U.S. in lecture recitals and flute publications.
