Record-Breaking 14 SBU Students Receive Prestigious Fulbright Scholarships

Major/Degree: PhD in Music History and Theory

Departmental advisors/research mentors: Erika Supria Honisch, Ryan Minor, Stephen Decatur Smith, Jen Green

Lee received a Fulbright Research Award to Austria. Supervised by Professor Michael Walter of the University of Graz, she will conduct archival research and data analysis on the financial situations and economic motivations surrounding Austrian opera houses and opera singers in Austria during the long 19th century. Furthermore, she plans to incorporate historical spatial analysis as a tool to further visualize and discern any patterns in her research findings. She also looks forward to volunteering for a program at the Graz Opera that has been making the arts more accessible to the local community.
