Nine Stony Brook Students Receive Prestigious Fulbright Scholarships

Degree:  2019 BA in Linguistics and TESOL Education, minor in Korean Studies

Departmental advisors/research mentors: Jen Green, Heejeong Sohn (Center for Korean Studies), Dorit Kaufman (Department of Linguistics), Kathy Corazza (Literacy Suffolk, Inc.)

Peña was selected for a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award to South Korea.

As a Fulbright South Korea ETA grantee, she intends  to consolidate her passion for poetry, cross-cultural interactions, and language exchange by establishing a Poetry Exchange Club. She hopes to entertain a variety of perspectives on contemporary topics through multicultural poetry.

Peña was  a JFEW-SUNY Global Affairs Leadership Program Scholar.
